About You
This week work placement was a brilliant opportunity for young people like myself who are not sure if they want to go to university to be able to make a decision and explore the other options that are available as we are usually not informed about them. I loved that the schedule was very busy and we were always doing something.
On the Wednesday and the Thursday was when I felt the most valued and this is because we were given a case study of a real company that was had a problem and so this meant that we had to come up with some real solutions that the business could be able to use.
There was support and guidance everywhere that you turned when I was at Deliotte. There was Leah who was in charge and so she was always there to support you if you needed it and then for each day there were always other who worked from Deliotte to give you guidance on any questions or queries that you had, for example one day there were two BrightStart members who came in for a Q&A.
The skills that I have been able to develop and all the information that I have gathered are mostly likely to help me not just in the degree that I choose but with everyday life. The skills will then be able to help me throughout my degree and then beyond what I aspect because they were designed just for Deliotte, they were general skills and tasks that are important.
The Company
Briefly mentioned before, the insight was structer incredibly well and this is because there was never a dull moment or a moment for sitting around. Right from when we got there and we handed in our documents to the final day when we were getting our certificates and taking pictures we were always on our toes and brains rolling. Sometimes we were so busy that we had a working lunch.
The general atmosphere of this insight was a happy and friendly working environment and this was shown by all of the workers and the helpers that were able to help in the insight. On on of the days we were able to work shadow and the atmosphere was a real insight to what it would be like to be able to work at Deliotte and it was incredible!
I think the company was okay with investing me but they could have done more.
This insight worked everyday to provide a bit of important information or show a work placement and really show how everybody is valued within the company because everybody needs everybody but don't worry if you are ever stuck because there is always somebody who is going to be there to help you when you need it.
The insight was able to show this positive and hard working company culture that appeared throughout the business. It is clear that the company culture has grown and is going to nothing but grow even more and the culture is really shown from each employee and each BrightStart member as they joined the company right from the beginning of their career.
The contented was extremely valued and this is because they were able to the schemes that were available to me if I didn't want to go to university. However, if I did then make the decision to go to university I would be able to take up some work experience or even apply for a scholar.
Everything Else
I don't live to far from London but travel is actually quite expensive and so this was advantage that encouraged me to go.
Yes, there were a variety of opportunities. As spoken about previously om each of the days there was a chance to network with a employee of the firm where they discussed their role and how they got into the business and what it is that they do now. For us to be able to see this it show us that is really is possible to do what we want.
Again these events were incredible, on the Tuesday there was a networking event that started at 17:00 and finished at 19:00 and different people from around the firm came to talk in detail about anything we wanted to know and asked us questions about the sceme and what our plans for the future was and this really helped to make a decision.
No there wasn't much information about these activities and so in order to improve the insight maybe this could be included for the next students.
Yes, I would defiantly recommend this insight to a friend and this is because it is an opportunity for students to see what other options they have available to them and understand that they don't have to go to university in order to get a degree and become what they want.
