The Role
Very much enjoyed placement. Thrown in with the site team on various short jobs. Developed skills enormously from first day to last.
I never felt treated any differently than any other permanent colleagues. Very much enjoyed spending tine with site team even out of hours. Working away from home was also enjoyable.
I always had support available if required both from management and site team.
At the start the days seem long as your responsibilities are invariably minimal. As you develop your knowledge days become shorter! As with any job some stages are busier than others and require more input from yourself.
By completion of placement I was a an equal member of the team on a large project with overall responsibility for a large area & value. Something I very much appreciated and am proud of achieving completion on.
I am yet to see what skills will help with my degree; certainly time keeping and work hours. In terms of beyond I will be on the graduate scheme in which this year will certainly be beneficial.
The Company
Team changes with which project you are assigned to usually. Very good atmosphere to work in. I have often said I enjoyed what I do but as equally enjoyed from the people I do it with.
Very well organised from the London office however working regionally has its difficulties with meeting up and attending various events.
I have completed various courses including first aid at work among other more minor internal training modules. I have not managed to complete my SMSTS however I will do this on my return after uni.

I have agreed to return on the grad scheme. Highly rated 2 year scheme and also attractive salary.
The Culture
Due to working regionally it was difficult to socialise with other placement students working in London. We did however climb mount Snowdon together to raise money for charity.
I managed to work at home, this kept costs minimal. Travel costs were also paid by mileage.
When working away we often went out with site team (most nights!)
Nothing spectacular.
