The Role
Very interesting, had exposure to all parts of the banks which provided me the opportunity to really understand how a bank is run.
I felt very valued as they treated me as an employee and not an intern. It was also made clear to me how thankful they were and appreciative they were for the work I completed for them.
I had a good support network that provided me guidance and feedback throughout my internship. I was able to draw on this network from all different types of individuals across the bank which in turn allowed me to work to my up most best.
Work was cyclical depending on committee meetings or deadlines. However I always had something to do or to work on.
I was given a good amount of responsibility which depended on my appetite. I got to work on significant projects that had a real impact on the day to day running of the bank.
I developed my written communication by undertaking minute taking and ensuring a robust controls environment.
The Company
Good work ethic, with everyone eager to succeed and had a real passion for what they did and how they did it. It was also a very friendly culture and much more laid back in comparison to the American banks.
We had various socials and talks from a variety of amazing speakers. The first training week was very beneficial and training for all the interns I found was extremely useful.
UBS played a very active role in investing in us as interns and organised many talks.
Company Parties/Events
very appealing. The culture is great, great work ethic and the people are really open minded and are willing to spend time with you and help you with any issues you have. UBS is unique and a great place to work.
The Culture
Yes, Interns regularly met up after work and we had 3 socials arranged by HR throughout the internship. The location is pretty great with loads of nice pubs/restaurants/bars next to the office.
I lived with my family at home so I for me the cost of living wasn't too bad. Going out to eat and to bars etc however is quite expensive.
Nightlife was great, mayfair is just round the corner. And there are loads of cool quirky places to go around London. Shoreditch is 10 minutes walk away - with some great places and good music.
I was constantly encouraged to get involved in community affairs programs where I have helped out at local schools and spoke to kids about my time in industry which I found very rewarding. There are loads of things to get involved with.
