The Role
I had a great time working with Hewlett Packard Enterprise during my placement, I felt that there was a great support network and constant opportunity to experience different areas of the business and that I was not limited by my day to day role.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. their constant willingness to involve me and create opportunities for me to gain exposure in the business was paramount to the success of my placement. I was also given ample opportunity to have my voice heard, making me feel valued and a key part of the teams dynamic.
My managers and supervisors were very supportive in my endeavors and gave me ample opportunity to gain experience and exposure in any area that i had interest in. I was also in constant communication with my manager around possible next steps and development opportunities
I was very busy during my placement. My willingness to put my name out there and make myself known meant that i had many different work streams and could balance this well thanks to my managers guidance. I also took on projects where the workload was seasonal, resulting in a great balance of work throughout the year.
I felt that i was given a lot of responsibility. From owning processes in my daily role to being able to manage multiple projects, events and initiatives. I was also given the freedom to innovate the process that were handed to me, making them more efficient and meaningful throughout the process.
Many of the skills i have gained will be transferable to university and my career. I have especially excelled my communication skills, thanks to constant exposure to senior management. I have also gained confidence in my management and speaking skills due to the constant opportunity to practice these in a professional environment
The Company
The office was really lively, due to the large internship programme the office always felt like a good place to be, with a large network of collagues all around me that i always felt i could communicate with simply and efficiently. The office also gave me great motivation to work hard, with senior managers close by, it gave all of us a great opportunity to have our hard work recognized.
The ograninisation of the internship was great. There is a very structured programem that ensures that all interns have the correct support to allow them to gain the most out of their experience. The programme also allowed us to gain a great ballance between our day jobs and voluntary and charitable work in the local community. (Bracknell and Reading).
The company has a great programme and aims to ensure that we all leave our internships having developed our professional to the fullest of our potential. With various mentor and professional development programmes, there were always opportunities to improve skills where we felt we needed work. I was also able to manage the mentoring programme, matching 56 interns with 56 graduate mentors.

Future employment with Hewlett Packard Enterprise is very appealing. There are a number of graduate programmes in place that could ensure that we build and progress on our achievements during the year. the support network that i have built during the year has meant there are many different opportunities to come back to the company in a number of different capacities.
The Culture
There is a great social scene. The high volume of interns working in the office has always made the atmosphere very comfortable and inclusive. I have also lead the intern committee for the year, this has resulted in constant opportunities to organise and run events that bring interns together to socialise, fund raise and complete voluntary work.
The cost of living is high, there are not many available houses in the area which did cause problems at the start of the year. The area in which we are living is good, with great social opportunities in Reading and London. Altjough once again, this did come at a cost, with prices being high in the area for rent as well as other out of work activities.
The nightlife in Reading is average, with the high cost of drinks being the most offputting part of the scene. The nightlife in London however is great, despite the high cost involved, there is a huge variety of options. This worked very well when working in the city during the days too.
There were constant opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. As part of the committee we were constantly able to organise events and activities. Meaning there was not a month that went by where we did not have a chance to socialise at particular events outside of work, this is also thanks to the number of interns living in the area, there is always a chance to get involved.
