About You
I really enjoyed the placement, I was kept busy and given lots of relevant work from my team. There are also numerous extra 'activities' such as tours, talks and softball, which are all good fun and good for networking and learning more about the company and its employees.
I felt valued by my team as I was given relevant work to complete and tasks which will be used in future work. I was involved in major team meetings and I feel that my opinion was highly valued by the team. Given that the team consists of 5 people, I felt really involved.
I received ample guidance from my team and notably my mentor, Charley Allen, who was always there to answer questions, however basic they may have been! When I was given tasks, I was also expected to use my initiative in order to complete them properly. I therefore worked mostly independently but guidance was available where needed.
I came into the Savills Summer Scheme as a non-cognitive graduate from Newcastle. I therefore had to learn fast, in order to begin to understand the industry and some of the 'lingo'. Through the Departmental Talks and the work I have been doing, I feel that I will have a useful and basic understanding of the industry when I start my Masters at Reading in Real Estate.
The Company
The Summer Scheme was very well structured and many activities and socials were organised for us. I attended, departmental talks, tours, drinks, softball and rounders. During the placement I had a mid placement review, giving me the opportunity to ask questions and for the HR team to see how I was getting on. I then had a final appraisal in my last week. This was extremely useful as I was given feedback on my work and input, and areas for improvement. I was able to talk to my director and we began to think about the RICS pathways and where I would be best suited.
The atmosphere was very good, I felt proud to be working for Savills in the head office, and I think this feeling is shared by many employees. There is a 'work hard, play hard' atmosphere here, and I really enjoyed it.
The company really invested in me as an individual and a potential future employee. My team members where always there to help me and talk through things when I was struggling.
As I was fully involved with my team and the work they were doing, I feel that I have gained an understanding of what it would be like to be a full time employee here.
I was able to understand the company culture through talking to both graduates and directors.
Very valuable, especially talking to my director and mentor about the various RICS pathways. It is still early days but I feel that I have a clear vision for the future.

I was paid during my internship - £1,080 pre tax
Yes there were many opportunities available for networking, such as the directors lunch, drinks for the summer scheme students, and softball.
Really good fun, and a great way to meet people in an informal setting.
Yes, I spoke to my director about the sports opportunities available. There are many teams and they play against other property firms in London, I would really like to get involved with the Hockey team.
