The Role
I have had a great summer working for JP Morgan and given a chance, I'd do it all over again!
Part of what made my internship such an enjoyable experience was the extremely helpful attitude of my team. They treat me just like one of them, and we go for team lunches/drinks very often.
I have received constant supervision throughout my internship, and have not felt lost at any point in time. My manager and the rest of my team are very approachable.
At times I felt like I had nothing to do, and at other moments I was handling a number of tasks side by side. Having said that, it's nothing I could not manage.
Within my first week, I was able to take ownership of a lot of the teams functions. It really made me feel like I added real value.
I definitely think everything I have learnt so far will help me in my studies and my professional life. For one, I have become very comfortable with Excel. Also, the internship has taught me valuable interpersonal skills that are transferable.
The Company
My team is very small, and the floor is very quiet, so it was okay. As a team, we had lots of fun.
I feel the placement is very structured and when I began, my team had a set plan for what I would be doing for the 11 weeks. Also, we had plenty of very well organised fun social events, as well as presentations by seniors in the firm.
Before we began, we received extensive training, and throughout, there has been a great support network that we've been able to reach out to.
Company Parties/Events
I have not yet received a decision but I am hopeful.
The Culture
The interns arranged weekly drinks/clubbing nights.
Because JPM is in the City, the costs around this area are pretty high.
The nightlife around the area is good since there are plenty of bars around and central London clubs are almost walking distance.
In terms of social events, there were lots. We also had a volunteering session, lots of presentations etc.
