    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship, to the extent at which I honestly do not want it to end. I feel like it has been going incredibly quickly, but I am amazed at how much I have learned in such a short space of time. I have increased both my knowledge and skills, and really feel that I have had the chance to show what I can do.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • One of the best things about this internship was that I felt that I was actually of use. I was trusted with a large number of tasks, including presentations which will go on to be used by my team in the future. I was always thanked for my work, and reassured by my colleagues that I was helping them a great deal.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support and guidance by all my managers to a great extent. I was regularly asked about my workload with my thoughts and ideas listened to. All of my managers always had time for me, and were always happy to answer any questions that I had. Throughout my internship I have felt comfort in knowing that my managers do want me to succeed, and this has significantly increased my confidence in my day-to-day work.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy on a daily basis with a wide range of tasks to complete and events to attend. However, I found learning to balance all of these things to be part of my learning experience and wouldn't have had it any other way. By keeping busy I was able to be productive, remain proactive with my mind constantly stimulated.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a significant amount of responsibility during my internship. My team had trust my judgment during a number of different tasks, and allowed me to work on projects and presentations that will continue to be used after I have left. I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of the job, as it meant I was very engaged in my work and reminded me that I was adding value to my team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have developed and training I have received will assist me to a great extent as I enter the working world. This was my first full-time job which I learned a great deal from, whether that it time management, presentation skills, communication skills or other more technical skills and knowledge. I will be able to take a great deal away from this internship, and I am confident I will be able to apply what I have learned to any job I have in the future.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was a very positive one, with almost everyone happy to speak to me and answer any questions I may have. People were very open and upfront about the work as well, and I was always given very useful, constructive feedback whenever I asked for it. I felt extremely comfortable in the office, and felt that people were genuinely trying to include me.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was organized very well. The initial week of training was very useful, not only for gaining knowledge and skills, but also for getting to know the other interns. I also believe the way my internship was structured (with two four-week rotations) was very good, as this allowed me to get a good grasp of what that particular area did, and also add value to my teams.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt that the firm invested a great deal in me. Not only was I given training but was encouraged to stretch myself, to attend other professional and personal development events, and to push myself with the tasks I was given. I felt that my managers believed in my abilities and genuinely wanted me to succeed, so were a constant source of support throughout my internship.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment opportunities with the organization are extremely appealing. In fact, I know I will be very disappointed if I don't receive an offer for the graduate scheme. I feel that I fit in this environment well, get on well with the people and ultimately, love the work I am doing.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene with interns organizing events and meet-ups themselves, but the Campus Recruitment team also organized some great events for everyone too. It was always good to catch up with the interns I don't see very much of, and thoroughly enjoyed talking to everyone about how their internships were going.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living and socializing was high, but due to the internship being in London, it was what I expected. I still felt the costs were manageable and never felt like I was struggling for money.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I personally don't usually go out at night, unless for a meal, but London has a huge number of popular places where many of the interns attended.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were lots of opportunities to get involved with activities outside of work, particularly charity work and volunteering. Whether it was taking an hour or two out to work with high school pupils or volunteering at a park, there were plenty of opportunities.
