The Role
It was interesting partly due to the steep learning curve.
Colleagues always made sure to thank you for taking real work of their desk.
Very good pastoral mentoring.
It seemed to vary from role to role but I was never normally overly busy and could have done a bit more, however others were rushed of their feet.
A lot. I was treated like a member of the team, albeit a junior one. I was expected to deliver just like everyone else.
My financial product knowledge has increased tenfold.
The Company
Quite informal and friendly. Not exactly fun never stopped but an occasional spot of banter.
Very good from the point of view of managers on the desks but HR were not on the ball, often more of a hindrance than a help.
There was a very intentional focus on this throughout.
Company Parties/Events
There seem to be plenty of jobs available for those good enough, and they rarely do big layoffs.
The Culture
There were always emails going around about nights out.
London is very pricey even on the good money of an Investment Bank intern.
London has an awful lot of choice.
Thorpoe park trips, Corporate Social Responsibility days, and more.
