    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was interesting partly due to the steep learning curve.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues always made sure to thank you for taking real work of their desk.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Very good pastoral mentoring.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It seemed to vary from role to role but I was never normally overly busy and could have done a bit more, however others were rushed of their feet.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot. I was treated like a member of the team, albeit a junior one. I was expected to deliver just like everyone else.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My financial product knowledge has increased tenfold.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Quite informal and friendly. Not exactly fun never stopped but an occasional spot of banter.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very good from the point of view of managers on the desks but HR were not on the ball, often more of a hindrance than a help.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a very intentional focus on this throughout.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There seem to be plenty of jobs available for those good enough, and they rarely do big layoffs.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were always emails going around about nights out.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is very pricey even on the good money of an Investment Bank intern.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London has an awful lot of choice.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Thorpoe park trips, Corporate Social Responsibility days, and more.

    4/5
