About You
I had a great three weeks at Baker & McKenzie. Everyone at the firm was incredibly friendly and supportive. The work was intellectually engaging and the socials really fun!
Our supervisors and trainee buddies were always happy to take questions and keen to hear our views. The trainees regularly socialised with us during the scheme and made us feel a part of the firm.
The grad recruitment team did a wonderful job of making us feel welcomed from day one. The trainees regularly checked on how we were doing and took the time to discuss the pieces of work we were given.
Most valuable were team skills we had on presentation and networking. The learning development manager was incredibly engaging and made distilled these skills in a fun and practical way. Working on the client pitch competition also helped us develop our teamwork skills.
The Company
We had well structured from every department, the managing committee and diversity teams that gave us a detailed understanding of the firm. We also had regular coffee chats with the trainees and associates gave further insight into the day to day life at the firm.
Open, welcoming and fun!
A great deal from teaching us the value of client interaction, business development and presentation skills. Really insightful focus on how to establish strong client relationships.
I learnt a lot on how the firm operates on a day to day business as well as on a global scale. Most exciting was to see how fluid the contact between the Baker & McKenzie's global offices were as well how everyone found the time to socialise catch up at the end of every week.
We were very lucky to attend both the firm and trainee parties that was really summed up the Baker's approachable and diverse culture!
Very valuable. I definitely came out of the internship with a greater understanding of the business initiative and analytical thinking required in commercial law.
Everything Else
Yes, both formally and informally. We had a very insightful lunch with the managing committee that set out Baker's global practice and strategies whilst our supervisors and trainees were always more than happy to answer any questions we had.
Really fun - the karaoke, firm parties and farewell lunch were the highlights of the vac scheme!
Yes, we had a great talk from the diversity team on the firm promotes issues such as inclusion and welfare as well other pro bono and sports activities from the trainees and associates.
Yes!
