The Role
My placement exceeded any expectations I had. I was given an abundance of opportunities to learn and develop and greatly enjoyed the whole experience!
I definitely felt valued by my colleagues, especially by those who I worked closest with. There is generally a great deal of respect for interns in the company.
The support I received from my line manger was fantastic! I had regular meetings to discuss my progress and work load and ensure that at no point I felt overwhelmed. I could be confident that if I ever had any questions or concerns I could ask my line manager for advice and would always be listened to.
The nature of this role does mean that sometimes it can get busy, not just for myself, but for the whole team. However, when I did get busy, my manager made time to ensure that was given the support I needed to learn how to prioritise and work more efficiently.
I was progressively given a lot of responsibility during my placement which was great as it added new and varied experiences.
My placement has allowed me to develop a number of skills that have placed me in good stead for the future. The understanding of the inner workings of such a large organisation is already proving invaluable.
The Company
The team dynamics were generally great and made for a fun yet productive atmosphere.
My internship was well organised, again my line manager was incredibly supportive and had a lot to do with this.
There were opportunities to develop skills, both through my team and as part of wider training.
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I would love to work for Disney again in the future!
The Culture
There were a few team social outings after work hours, which were great fun! Many of the interns would meet up frequently and tended to have a great social life.
I chose to live slightly out of the area and commute in, so I'm unsure of the exact cost of living in the area, however I don't think financially it would have made much difference. Socialisng can be expensive, however it depends on what your interests are.
There are some nice pubs in the area.
There are loads of opportunities to get involved in a number of activities if you want to!
