The Role
I really enjoyed my internship here. It was only 8 weeks as I am off to America to study, however they were very accommodating for that as they have been with many other things. I have learnt so much and met some really great people. I can see that whatever you put in you get out like with most things. So I put a lot into it and have gained the benefits.
My colleagues were all very kind and welcoming and so I enjoyed being in the office. I got to go out and meet a variety of people throughout the company. Some were not as helpful as others but on the whole people were very accommodating and didn't treat me too much like the intern that I was, with little knowledge of the mechanics of the company.
I am lucky as my supervisor was very helpful. He was supportive and made sure that I was on the right track to begin with and then started to give me more freedom in what I did and handed over the responsibility to me to arrange our meetings and discuss my objectives, which we created together and which have been clear from the start. So I felt that I had sufficient guidance balanced with freedom
I was usually as busy as I chose to be. I always found something to do, whether sat at a desk completing research tasks or out meeting people and getting tasks done. I found that the more effort I put in and arrangements that I made the busier I would be. The pace of my day would very much vary day to day due to this.
It has opened my eyes to a whole new world that my degree doesn't allow me to see. The world of business has a whole new language with a whole new set of rules and concepts that I am now aware of and one day hope to learn fully and utilize. My degree would in no way prepare me for the world of work so I have been lucky enough to have this opportunity.

The Company
The atmosphere is calm and relaxed. People are generally happy and friendly. It can be a bit dull at times, when it is quiet and people are getting on with things. Some of the other buildings are more vibrant than the one that I am in so it varies across the company.
It was not organised and planned out as such. It was down to you and your line manager to come up with your objectives and structure as long as you completed an end of placement presentation. This was good as it allowed you to do what you wanted and apply yourself to certain areas, but some may have wanted a clearer organisation.
I was lucky to attend a couple of training days and probably could have found more if I had really wanted to so I feel that I have been invested into. I have had opportunities of tours and have been to see a range of people. My personal development has come a long way and I have really benefitted from my objectives for that.

Subsidised/Company Gym

Future employment prospectus is positive. I would like to work for the company in the future and the grad scheme would really give me an insight into more of the company, so I hope to be successful in securing a place such as that after my degree has been completed. They seem a safe and secure company to work for with a relaxed accommodating feel.
The Culture
It was fun as most interns were within the same accommodation and so we got to know each other really well.
Pretty cheap around Derby.
The nightlife is definitely existent but only really on a Friday or Saturday night. The city is pretty dead until those nights when everyone seems to emerge from their homes to fill the clubs and bars. It's definitely a certain type of night out, trashy chart music, heels and dresses. But that is fun in it's own way, it depends what you like.
Yes there's sports clubs and societies.
