The Role
The internship was a very good opportunity to see what an analyst role at IB would be like as on most projects we were placed in the place of the analyst.
We worked a lot on client material which meant we added value to real output going out to clients or being used for deals.
The internship is a good balance between being taught about the industry and being thrown in the deep end to learn for yourself.
Very busy with a lot of pitching and deal projects
I was given responsibility of own work used for deals/client pitch books. It was rewarding to see my work being used, which gave me the feeling of being given more responsibility.
I gained good understanding of the financial industry and though there is a lot more to learn, I feel like I have identified areas of development.
The Company
Everyone was keen to get us involved in work and projects and when available happy to give background on project/industry.
Very well set up, we were always working on projects. no idle time. Additionally there were plenty of networking opportunities organised.
We were taught and trained as if we were analysts joining full time.
Company Parties/Events
This is a very large organisation with plenty of opportunities and departments. There is a lot of room for development and moving around if people wish to explore.
The Culture
From my interactions with others, the overall message is that people are happy to be getting a lot of industry exposure and have a steep learning curve.
Overall on the high cost side.
Good, many bars and restaurants. There are also many open air summer events around CW.
As time on the internship was limited we did not get to experience all activities to be involved in but full time workers have been involved in volunteering and charity work.
