The Role
Extremely enjoyable workplace to undergo an internship!
Very much - I have been given work that has made a difference in the bank, and have been treated as one of the team.
Always - whenever I have needed help, my team is always on board.
Relatively - it can sometimes vary with how much work you get done on one day, and whether there's more to do the next day. There would be days I've been extremely busy though, I haven't had a day where I've been bored!
I've been given tasks which require a high level understanding of the technology as well as the business, and have been undergoing work that the team would get involved with normally.
The internship has helped me develop a range of skills, both interpersonal and technical. I've been shown the workings of both a technology company and a bank, and I've developed a large amount of confidence with the work I'll be set to do with the rest of my degree and afterwards.
The Company
An extremely enjoyable atmosphere in which everyone was friendly and always on board to help and chat. There were never any disputes, and the floor was never quiet.
The experience was very smooth, and any problems that occured were easily dealt with. Each intern settled into their team extremely well and quickly, and we were given opportunities every week to listen to Managing Directors and Directors.
We were allowed to partake in extra training that was not even relevant to our area, and we were encouraged to meet individuals from various areas to expand our skill base.

Would definitely recommend working at Barclays!
The Culture
Yes - all the interns were like-minded and were keen to socialise with each other.
Cost of living would be far too high for a student in Canary Wharf - socialising would vary upon where you went!
Really good range of bars and restaurants to visit in Canary Wharf.
Yes - we were given the chance to work with a charity developing their social media presence, as well as opportunities to visit other Barclays offices. If we wanted, we could get involved with sport at Barclays as well.
