The Role
I enjoyed my internship as I had challenging work, and everyone is very approachable, making it easy to ask questions. I have learnt a lot during the internship.
I felt part of the team within a few days. I was working on a project that was of real value to the team, and hence I felt valued by my colleagues.
I was given all the support I needed to carry out my project to a high standard. My manager was available each day so I could ask questions.
I always had something to do - in addition to my main project, there was the Citizenship Challenge, where I had the opportunity to advise a charity on a problem it faced. I was also able to meet many senior people, enabling me to begin to piece together how different parts of the bank fit together.
Towards the end of the internship, I was given responsibility to represent our team at the weekly update meeting, a task usually given to someone with several years' more experience than me. This is one example of when I was given significant responsibility during the internship.
The knowledge I have gained will be very valuable if I decide to continue to work in the same division in the future.
