  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship programme at Barclays enabled me not only to get to know my specific business area but also other areas within the bank. This has made me get an understanding of how banks work which helped me to discover what I really want to do in the banking industry.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Not only my team but also people from other teams have been respectful to me at all times and have made me feel that the work I was doing was valuable to them and to the firm.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager and my other colleagues where always there to answer any questions I had although at the same time they gave me enough space for me to think about the problem and solve it by myself, which I really value.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I found that the flow of work was quite volatile. Whereas some days I had to stay until late to finish multiple tasks, other days we did not have much work to do

  • I was gradually given more and more responsibility and getting more difficult and relevant tasks

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I cannot say for sure yet but I am sure that the skills I got from doing the analyses I have carried out in my internship will come handy when completing my final year project

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Extremely friendly. People brought treats (cakes, sweets, chocolates...) every now and then for everybody to enjoy. Furthermore, senior people are really approachable.

  • They invest in talent and once you are in you realize that it is true

  • Yes, everybody was really social

  • The food around here is a bit expensive so I try to bring food from home at least twice a week

  • Really fun

  • Yes, there were sports events, drinks and charity events organized now and then
