The Role
It was well structured with a lot of contact with student recruitment throughout. My team were all really friendly and the work was varied.
They took time out to talk to me about my career plans and how I was getting on at the firm.
I was assigned a buddy, a graduate trainee within the department I had been assigned, and also had regular contact with more senior people within the team. The office was open planned and so I'd often be sitting next to Senior Managers or Directors.
It was a quiet time of year but the team did their best to give me work that I was able to do. They also made an effort to ensure I went to client meetings and got some exposure outside of the office.
I was responsible for ensuring I understood the tasks I was given (and could ask questions if I didn't) but ultimately it would be somebody else who would check what I had done.
I gained some useful technical knowledge throughout my internship and we were also given two days of technical training in order to assist us. Lots of soft skills training too and networking opportunities.
The Company
Very relaxed and chilled, everyone just got on with their own work and chatted inbetween.
Very well organised - we had an introductory day with other interns and then two further days of technical training. Then I was assigned to a team whom I stayed with the rest of my internship.
There was a CR day for all the interns a couple of weeks in and then I was also able to a soft skills training day with my team.

Every intern was given a partner/director interview for the graduate role within the same service line and office.
The Culture
Yes - we all got to know each other at the beginning and then student recruitment put on a bowling night for all of us plus the CR day. I have made some good friends from my internship, although once you were in the office at your desk, there was no interaction with other interns unless you arranged it independently.
Canary Wharf is not as expensive as you'd think and we were also given money towards our lunch everyday.
Near central London
Yes, plenty.
