About You
I enjoyed my time on my internship as I felt I gained relevant experience and I work and contribution was valued. I took part in many different jobs with different members and parts of the team that allowed me to gain a wider experience in my time in the office. It allowed me to be a real team player and help me make future career decisions
My experience was valued throughout my time. I was always given work and that would be beneficial and not just to give me something to do. My opinions were taken into consideration throughout the process and when I completed a piece of work it was recognised and I was given feedback. Also on a social aspect I was always included in everything the team was doing and made me feel like a valued member.
During my time I was given a buddy, a manager and a performance manager. Each person introduced themselves and explained their part in my insight experience. If I had any issues of problem I was able to work with my buddy and solve them. My performance manager was also there to give support and also mainly to provide feedback on my time with different staff.
I am currently studying a degree in accounting at university so this experience was extremely useful. It allowed me to experience everything I learn at university in a working office and put into practice. Also gaining experience in a big 4 is always very helpful and will allow me to make informed decisions on my future career decisions. I was also able to develop my general office working skills with a large team.
The Company
There was a very clear structure that was very clearly organised. I had an introduction to the company and also and introduction to KPMG'S tax business school in London. Then on beginning my placement there was a set structure to be followed which all lead up to a final presentation where you present what you learned and your general experience.
During my time in the office the atmosphere was very welcoming. Every part of the team was very friendly and happy to help me with any questions, work or my experience as a whole. It made me feel very relaxed like I was part of the team and I was valued. The office itself is very relaxed and everyone is very happy to help out. There was also a lot of social events which I could get involved in.
There was a lot of training to begin with as part of the team. It was very helpful in being able to discuss this and also be or par with all other members of the team. I received training on health and safety and also new legislation and ethics. A lot of time was invested so I did feel like it was important to the company that I was u to their high standard.
It allowed me to see how the members of the team worked and how their daily tasks unfold. However as I didn't have a lot of work myself I didn't experience tight deadlines or a high work load but that obviously will be experienced by full time staff. I did get to ask everyone many questions about their work and I now have a greater idea of what the role entails.
I had some experience in this field as I read about the company and also took part in their corporate responsibility day.
It was extremely valuable as I got to take part in work that members of staff have to complete. Nothing was given to me to pass the time everything I took part in was beneficial to the team and gave me a sense of the work the company do. As I wasn't sure what part of accounting I wanted to work in applying for tax was a great decision as it has allowed me to decide on my future career.
Everything Else
My experience was paid and also any expenses I incurred were reimbursed accordingly.
There were many networking events in the first week to establish a network, meet fellow interns and also other staff. There was one In the home office and then one when we visited the London office. I allowed us to ask many questions and meet man different levels of staff. Also the team organised many social events which were very useful.
they were very useful in I got to share my experience with other interns, ask many questions and also meet members of the team
Yes there were many emails and events sent to staff about all outside work events. These were easy to access and it made you feel integrated as part of the team. There was many different events with many people to meet and talk to.
Yes. It has gave me great experience in the career I would like to enter when I leave university. It is also brilliant for my CV and will allow me to be more attractive to future employers. My time was valued and I got to take part in many different types of work, got to many events and meet lots of new people. It also was very well structured and lots of planning goes into my experience.
