    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working in ITRA (Manchester) was very enjoyable, I was given the opportunity to interact with a variety of clients, varying in tasks such as management consulting to external IT audit. I feel this gave me a great overview of what kind of jobs a graduate entering the company would be expected to do. The internship was structured very much in a "What do you want to get out of this?" kind of way, for me this was fantastic as it allowed me to experience and learn everything I aimed to during the internship.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Before working on tasks it was always explained to me what my contribution to an overall project would be, hence I felt as though the work I was completing was meaningful and important to the team. I also received positive feedback from clients which would be fed back to me.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was constantly receiving praise and development points from senior staff members which allowed me to know what I was doing well and where I needed to improve. Formal feedback sessions were held on a regular basis, I was also asked to give upwards feedback to two senior colleagues which suggested they valued my opinion and wanted to improve themselves for future interns to come.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given as much work as I was willing to take on, the best thing about ITRA (Manchester) is that they gave me the responsibility of a graduate however I always had the safety net of being an intern, hence any graduate level performance would be highly praised by colleagues.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The work I did contributed to IT Audits and Consultations. Towards the end of my internship I was completely responsible for the one entire section of an IT Audit (out of 3) and completed testing of the remaining two, meaning I contributed to every section of an IT audit. I was also involved in conference calls where I could share my opinion and progress status on the sections of the audit I was responsible for. Furthermore I was given the opportunity to lead client meetings frequently, as this was something I expressed that I wanted to do at the beginning of my internship.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed Excel skills which I can take back to my degree and career in general and landed a graduate job in the process!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone gets on with their work, little bit of chit chat here and there. After work drinks with the team every so often was great.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well set up, as I said I was given roles and responsibilities that a graduate would be doing. There always something for me to do.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My colleagues would spend lots of time explaining processes to me, I felt like they genuinely wanted me to progress.
