The Role
Great working environment and people!
Friendly and closely-knit community
Despite their busy schedules, Team Leaders will still make time to address our queries.
Good variety of things to do aside from the outlined responsibilities as an Applications Engineer Intern.
Interns are still given quite a fair bit of responsibilty, from communicating directly with customers to resolve issues, guidance/suggestions that may improve their application, etc.
LabVIEW proficiency and familiarity with other NI software and hardware helped with the decision of some of my 3rd year subjects and individual project selection.
The Company
Good balance of work and play
Organisation for inerns has generally been good, but there were lots of changes and initiatives occuring in the time I was there, not that this was a bad thing.
Apart from the New Start Training, interns still have the opportunity to participate in some of the optional training/meeting sessions held throughout the placement.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Interns will be able to return as a graduate, in some cases they may be offered a contract before the end of the placement.
The Culture
I stayed in Reading, so housing isn't as affordable Newbury, though there may be a bit more to do in Reading. If you have a car or if you are able to carshare with someone from Reading, then this might alleviate some of the cost of getting to work.
Going out in Newbury with the people in the office is always good fun
