  • Great working environment and people!

  • Despite their busy schedules, Team Leaders will still make time to address our queries.

  • Good variety of things to do aside from the outlined responsibilities as an Applications Engineer Intern.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Interns are still given quite a fair bit of responsibilty, from communicating directly with customers to resolve issues, guidance/suggestions that may improve their application, etc.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • LabVIEW proficiency and familiarity with other NI software and hardware helped with the decision of some of my 3rd year subjects and individual project selection.

  • Good balance of work and play

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Organisation for inerns has generally been good, but there were lots of changes and initiatives occuring in the time I was there, not that this was a bad thing.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Apart from the New Start Training, interns still have the opportunity to participate in some of the optional training/meeting sessions held throughout the placement.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Interns will be able to return as a graduate, in some cases they may be offered a contract before the end of the placement.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I stayed in Reading, so housing isn't as affordable Newbury, though there may be a bit more to do in Reading. If you have a car or if you are able to carshare with someone from Reading, then this might alleviate some of the cost of getting to work.

  • Going out in Newbury with the people in the office is always good fun
