The Role
I found the work really interesting and really varied. The people were really nice and helpful.
Very valued. People would email me after I completed work telling me that I did a good job.
They were all willing to give me feedback and answer questions no matter what grade they were.
It was cyclical. Sometimes I was very busy and sometimes I had next to nothing to do.
I was given many different jobs but they were always reviewed by graduates before going to anyone higher.
I've never worked in an office before so it helped me understand what it would be like to start working after I graduate. I also learnt some good time management and organisation techniques which I could use in my degree studies.
The Company
Great banter in the office that the interns were included in. Grads also invited us on nights out which were all really fun. Everyone was really friendly, no matter at what grade, they would always be up for a coffee and a chat or to help you with your work.
Only issue was the amount of work going around.
We had an induction weekend in a hotel, paid for by the company, and two days in the office of training for our roles.
Subsidised Canteen
Guaranteed graduate interview at the end of the internship. Feedback is given throughout the internship that will be seen by the person interviewing you.
The Culture
Very good social scene. The grads in my department would go out for a drinks a lot and invite the interns with them.
I lived at home but the canteen wasn't very expensive.
Lots of bars and a few clubs. Reading is a student town so there's lots of places to go out.
There was a football team that I know one of the interns got involved in.
