The Role
I really enjoyed my internship experience. I have learned a lot about the business, about the company. I have developed lots of skills during my day to day work. I have built relationships with loads of different people across the business and I have broadened my network during my stay. I have taken part in different activities and I enjoyed all of them.
I feel really valued by my colleagues. I have been warmly welcomed on the first day and my team treated me as one of the team. I have received Thank you letter and people show respect to my work and projects by providing really insightful and helpful feedbacks. I am treated by other colleagues in the team with respect and trust.
My line manager is really helpful during my internship. He gives my guidance on almost everything from projects to personal development. I have weekly 1:1 with my line manager and he is really supportive in terms of helping me go through my personal and business objectives in my internship. Besides, he introduces me to different contacts in the business.
I am quite busy on daily basis. I have several projects to work on and I need to keep updated on each one’s progress. My days are filled with meetings with people in different teams in the business and my own work on data analysis, market analysis and news update. But I really enjoy being busy on things that make a change and big impact on the business.
I have been given great responsibility starting from day 1. The projects that I am working are the major pillars to achieve the objective of our team and they have high expected impact on the whole team and even the business. Several projects have impact on different teams across the business and that makes me exciting.
I have developed several valuable skills during my stay there. The communication skill enables me to establish relationship with new contacts in fairly short time. The teamwork skill enables me to have my future teamwork efficiently and effectively. The skill on stakeholder management enables me to manage expectation from stakeholders.
The Company
People are really friendly in my team and in the office. Since our floor is hot-desk layout, it is easy to talk to people in other teams and chat about each other’s projects and roles. It is interested to meet people across the business and they are willing to have a 5 min chat about themselves. People are hard-working and passionate about their job,
Overall the internship experience is really well-organized. In our first week we had different workshops on financial market, on conduct risks, on technology and many other topics. We have different networking events across the business and they are all well-organized. We have citizenship challenge which provides opportunity to work with interns in other divisions.
Before start of internship, we have training on excel over the phone. During the internship, we had trainings on online portal. Within the team, we were given guidance on our own business and we were given materials to read to familiarize ourselves with the basic things. It would great if we were given team/business-specific training from graduate recruitment team before start.
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I see loads of opportunity within the business with different functions and different business areas. Employees are supported by the team, by HR and by the whole organization. There are clear but not settled business development route for each individual and people are motivated to make progress on business side and make personal development.
The Culture
Yes there is definitely. People are getting on really well. People show respect on each other, value their and effort. We chat with each other and share ideas on how we get on with people in team, share experience on networking and getting work done more efficiently. I really enjoy making friend with different people and talking to them.
The cost is a bit high in London area, which is understandable as the international financial hub and big city. The socialising cost is moderate to high depends on what activities or what venues are for the socialising activities. Rent is high again because it in London and the living expenditure could be quite high compared to rural area.
There are many activities outside work that we could take part. Outdoor/indoor activities are organized within my business area and across the organization. There are different societies in our business area and they have activities as well. There are interns’ activities as well in which we could network with other interns and build our relationship within the intern cohort.
