The Role
It was definitely a great experience! There were many things which made it enjoyable, starting with the people, having plenty of resources and training provided, and the type of job which I found incredibly rewarding. Management was supportive and always happy to help and there was always more to learn, it never was boring.
We were given access to all employees including analysts, Portfolio Managers and Directors of Research with some of them having more then 25 years experience at Fidelity. Everyone was helpful and tried to help you succeed and learn as much as possible, so it was actually possible to "learn from the best"
There was a lot of support as mentioned above, and if we had technical questions about accounting/valuation everything was explained to us plain and simple and in real life examples. There was no questions of limits, no matter how basic. For conclusions and thought processes we were expected to come up with individually and independently, however there was always someone who you could talk ideas through
It was very good as we had some meetings/presentations most of the days and the rest was spent doing work on the company which we were looking at, so there was a rough structure but usually you were independent in how much and how quick you wanted to work as deadlines were communicated clearly beforehand.
The Company
General atmosphere was friendly and helpful but still professional. As it was independent work and not teamwork, bonding/socialising usually took place during the lunch breaks or after work and not during the work hours in the office. A very good learning environment with people who are really passionate about what they do.
It was very well organised. Probably the best indicator of good organisation is that you never stop to think about how all of this was organised as all just seemed to run smooth. All the meetings during the day and presentations were organised for us so all we had to do was turn up, listen and take notes. If there were any questions there were resolved immediately
This is probably the most important aspect of this internship and the most valuable part of the experience. Considering it was only 8 weeks getting a full week of introductory training and then continuous training during the internship, specifically targeting areas of improvement which you or management have identified, I see this as a huge investment.

Working from home
Training does not just continue but increases when starting as a full time employee and you get access to even more resources such as senior management of companies, industry experts etc. This internship definitely gave me a good sense of what it would be like to start working at the company
The Culture
Well it is the City of London, so definitely expensive compared to rest of UK. Also as we would go out only during the weekends it would be even more expensive. However, it was still possible to go out and lunch options were really good, great variety and some not too pricey.
There were a couple of things organised by company HR such as a dragon boat race which was good fun. There was also a charity day where people got together to raise money for Rainbow Trust. Otherwise you are living in London, so what you do during the weekend is completely up to you, and there is plenty to do and try.
