The Role
Was given a good variety of work to do, which gave me a good insight into the service line and kept the day to day work interesting. Worked for a variety of different people which also kept the internship interesting and challenging.
Was made to feel very welcome immediately. Really felt that I was actually able to contribute to the team whilst I was there and that my work was appreciated.
Assigned both a buddy and a counselling manager, both of whom were very supportive and happy to answer any questions I had whether it was work for them or not. Everyone in the office was very happy to help no matter what question I had and everyone was very approachable.
I was given a reasonable amount of work to do and and busier and quieter days but generally the work level was consistent. I was given an appropriate amount of work over the Internship so that I could complete it all to a satisfactory standard without getting bored.
Whilst I was given plenty of actual work to I felt that the level of responsibility was average. This was not an issue though, as for an internship the level of responsibility is likely appropriate.
The skills I developed were more general office/accountancy skills such as time management, organisational skills etc and will be very useful in the future. Due to the team I was in the training was quite niche therefore very applicable to this service line. I have been told that the CTA qualification which is the one that TDR graduates undertake, whilst an excellent qualification has less relevance to the TDR job.
The Company
The atmosphere in TDR and BDO is great. Everyone is very friendly and personable, and there are lots of social events that are very popular. I have really enjoyed being in this office.
The internship is well set up and well organised. There is well organised training for interns and social events organised, as well a good system for integrating interns into the office.
I had four days of training at the start of the internship which was very useful throughout due to the niche nature of the team that I am in. When in the office everyone is more than happy to help and explain any issues I had.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I have really enjoyed working for BDO this summer and would be very happy to secure future employment with them.
The Culture
The social scene, particularly in TDR is very good, with regular office parties and events.
