The Role
Life changing experience, I have learnt things you can only learn with hands-on experience.
I was given decent responsibility, meaning that my colleagues trusted my decisions.
Everyone, from my buddy up to my mentor gave me support throughout the internship and helped me out whenever I needed it.
There were days where I didn't have much to do, and others where actually the days were too short to finish the given work. However, overall, the balance of work was perfect.
Tasks started off being very simple, but as the internship advanced and analysts saw my capabilities, I was given more and more responsibility
I have learnt skills different to the ones acquired at my engineering course in university, which will be very useful in my day-to-day future.
The Company
Although investment banking is a hectic working environment, people try to make the time at the office as enjoyable as possible.
Human resources made a fantastic job organising the internship, with weekly events to keep all interns in touch.
The firm invested in all possible aspects, trying to make life as easy as possible for interns.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
By the end of the internship, they will let us know whether we get a full time offer or not. A full time offer at BAML would probably be the best head start to a career in investment banking one can have.
The Culture
There were always after work drinks, whether it was with different teams or simply interns.
Cost of living in London is quite high, as well as socialising. However, salary is good enough to afford high living standards.
Nightlife in London was great, although I already knew that since I have been living here for 3 year full years.
Apart from after work drinks, there weren't many activities available outside work.
