The Role
I worked for Lloyds Bank Foundation during my 10 weeks. At first, I was unsure how I was going to get on but after 3/4 weeks and a positive attitude I can say that I have really enjoyed it and adapted well.
I was asked to complete a few tasks but individuals and the feedback from them suggested my being here to take on tasks as and when made things easier for them.
Both my line managers knew I wanted a place on the graduate scheme from the start and have supported me all the way through in order to give me all the tools I need to make it happen.
The task I had been set was an extremely big one and at first it was a bit overwhelming. However, after a few weeks it became more manageable as i became more comfortable using the systems.
I was allowed to own my piece of work. My line manager assisted with templates etc but what went into those templates was completely my own information.
I study my degree with Quantitative Research Methods so I rarely get to analyse data qualitatively. This opportunity taught me a lot about ways of doing that and also about condensing and summarizing.
The Company
The general office atmosphere was quite quiet but all the team were lovely and on hand if I ever needed help/support.
For the majority, it was well set up and organised. Being separate from the bank made it difficult in the first few weeks but once I had found solutions around this it was easier.
Lloyds put a lot of time and effort into their Scholars and the team there to support us is always on hand to answer any questions should we ever have them. Going for the GCA Graduate Scheme and being in a very competitive environment has shown me that Lloyds value you every single one of us and want the best for us all.
National Travel
I am really hoping that I will be one of 2 chosen to move onto the GCA Graduate Scheme.
The Culture
It wasn't too bad. We had a couple of social events organised by other interns/scholars.
The cost of living in London is always going to be higher than anywhere else which in turn means socialising comes at a bit of an expense.
London is a very good night out.
Our Charity Challenge team organised a Sports Day so that meant we spent time out of work organising that and then together on the day.
