The Role
The placement was not what I was expecting and not a business area I have any prior experience in, so I learned a lot during my placement.
My colleagues were very friendly, helpful and grateful for the work I was doing with/for them.
My line manager was on holiday for two and a half weeks out of the ten weeks I was there, so I didn't get as much guidance as I may have.
It was very varied on how much work I had to do- some weeks I would be working solidly and others I would struggle to find anything to do apart from picking up od jobs for other colleagues.
During the start of my placement I was given a section of our project to look after, however once that had been completed there were not very many tasks I could do which held much responsibility.
The placement does not have very much relevance to my degree, however I have developed some valuable skills which are very transferable, such as advanced functions in Microsoft EXCEL.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great. The perfect balance between friendly and fun as well as hardworking and professional.
The placement scheme is very well organised, however, my individual placement was not planned which means there has been periods of time where I am left with very little work.
There was very little investment in training and developing my skills during the time on my placement
There is a fantastic opportunity to enrol onto the grad scheme with them
The Culture
The first day was a conference in London where we sat on tables of other interns in our offices/areas. This was a great opportunity to get to know the other fellow interns and through out the placement we have become close and meet up a lot outside of work.
The costs were very manageable
The nightlife was good- even midweek there are plenty of places to go for a few drinks after work
We all got involved and did quite a lot outside of work but it was all arranged by ourselves and not by the placement
