The Role
My team was really friendly and I got on with them so had a good time. The work was different to what I expected which was interesting. The social aspect was a fun experience too (living with other interns)
I feel like, without having the expertise that they had, I was limited as to the jobs I could carry out. Nevertheless I feel like I did contribute to the team and helped them out with jobs they didn't have time to do
My team were really helpful at teaching me how to use the editing software which I had no previous experience of. My line manager was also great at making me feel involved and helping me progress, even though his office was far away.
I wasn't too busy on a day to day basis, however my team were good at giving me work if I asked for it. They were also understanding when I didn't have work to do and didn't expect me to sit in the office all day doing nothing.
I was given a bit of responsibility as I had to take over a few jobs from a member of the team who only worked three days a week. But my daily tasks usually had deadlines far in the future and so none of what I did was pushed for time.
Working in creative services it has pushed my creativity which I hope will be reflected in the design aspect of my mechanical engineering degree and later in life.
The Company
The atmosphere was always chatty and never too serious, which I really enjoyed!
I didn't always have much work to do so that organisation was not too great however there were other events and talks that I attended outside the office which were organised fairly well.
The team were always free to give me helpful tips on the work I was doing and my line manager did what he could to get me experience in other departments too
National Travel
Financial Bonus
I personally don't see myself working in a banking environment in the future and so Lloyds probably isn't the place for me
The Culture
Living with the other interns was a huge bonus and it was great to meet so many new, friendly people!
Lloyds paid for all accommodation so it was just living and socialising - which I pay for at uni anyway. Being in London everything was fairly expensive but it was to be expected
There is always something to do in London if you want to spend the money
Working 9-5 is not too bad so there is always time to get involved with things outside work
