The Role
I massively enjoyed my placement at ProspectSoft. I was able to work on a variety of projects and work with great colleagues.
I felt like I had a real input and that my opinion was valued by my team.
People were always on hand to help when I had a questions, even head developers would give up their time to help when needed.
After completing my training in the first month and joining my department there was always work to be done and never a quiet day.
I would quite often be left to complete projects on my own with help available only when I needed it. Towards the end of the placement myself and a few other placements came up with the idea to rework how our placement recruitment works for future years. For this project we worked solely as a team of placements responsible for all of the planning and programming that was involved.
Having the chance to get stuck into projects in a real work environment has definitely helped me improve my technical skills as a whole and will definitely help me during my final year. Having the chance to work alongside senior developers has also allowed me to see how more experienced developers work and pick up a massive amount of useful skills.
The Company
Everyone in the company is incredibly friendly and enthusiastic in the office.
The ProspectSoft placement scheme has been going for over 10 years and is integral to the company. The training provided and organisation of the scheme is well put together and is refined each year using the feedback placements provide.
The first 4 weeks at ProspectSoft as a placement are dedicated to general training. As an Assistant Solutions Developer I was given additional training throughout the year by senior developers to ensure I understand how to properly create Add-ons and Plug-ins for the software.

Working from home
A large portion of ProspectSoft is made up of previous placement students.
The Culture
Everyone at ProspectSoft were very social with each other with lots of activities organised between employees. There is also a social committee which organise company wide events for everyone. From BBQs to big days out.
The rent in the area is fairly expensive and most of our social events are in Oxford which is quite expensive.
There was always the opportunity to participate in different activities from sports to just going to the cinema after work. There is also a monthly game club after work.
