    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Had the best time at ProspectSoft, it has been a really fun and laid back environment to work in and I would love to work i this environment. Each day provided fun and exciting new challenges and I could not ask for more.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Working in support was difficult as you only hear from people when they're are annoyed but the company has done really well to negate and compensate that by making me feel like I have always done a good job.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Working in a smaller company I have had great support from supervisors, managers and directors. ProspectSoft has created an environment where you can talk to anyone about any concerns you might have and this was extremely beneficial to me when I was first starting.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My daily activities on the service desk follow a consistent theme of being busier in the start of the week and then tapering off as the days go on, PropsectSoft did well to balance this by ensuring all team members try out different roles on the service desk for example allowing us to take time away from answering the phones and logging emails in order to get a chance to investigate more complex issues.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As a placement at PS I have been given all the responsibility of a full time staff member and have also been treated as much, There has been endless amounts of opportunities for me to try different roles if desired.

  • I believe what i have gained from this experience will ensure I achieve my desired result at University. I feel I matured greatly and adopted a better outlook/attitude towards working that will only benefit me moving forward.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly, family felt atmosphere. The smaller nature of the company means that you get an opportunity to know everyone really well. As well as this there are lots of organised events for the company and plenty of activities to partake in if so desired. The has also been the addition of a new social activities scheme which looks really cool.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very - it's clear to see why ProspectSoft is a highly regarded placement scheme. There was plenty of help and assistance from the application process right up to starting in my role. I appreciated how easy the transition was from student to employee. It was so easy to access the information both before and during the scheme.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Training has run at least once a month since starting at ProspectSoft, as expected training was much more in depth at the start of the year than at the end. There was also additional seminars that ran regarding the topics and programs that I was supporting which really helped me get to grips with my job role.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There has been lots of discussion about my future at ProspectSoft and I am excited with the result we have agreed upon, no wonder so many students choose to come back here. My department especially has plenty of opportunity for me to progress and i am enthusiastic about the prospect of doing so.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We lived together in a house whilst working at ProspectSoft and made great friends whilst doing so. We all spent so much time together this way that we got to form friendships that we will take with us moving forward. As a group we have gone on nights out, day trips and go out regularly for fun activities.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • We chose to live in Oxford which is a student town so as a result the cost of living was really good especially whilst earning a competitive wage. The cost of leisure activities was especially good because of the known student population, there was plenty of student discounts to take advantage of.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As I was living in a student town the nightlife was great. Plenty of clubs , bars and clubs to get involved in. In oxford there is a club night every night of the week if that is what you're interested in, there has also been lots of late night sports clubs/gyms in the area i have been in.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes here at prospectsoft there are plenty of clubs and activities that are organised as a company and as friends. I took part in a 10k for charity whilst here with a few other employees. There is also a regular badminton, 5 a side football and climbing nights that I have been to. Since starting there has also been a monthly game night that is a good chance to have a laugh with people after work is over.
