The Role
The internship was a great opportunity to apply what I had learned during my studies. Also all the people that I met (interns and full time employees) are intelligent, sharp, motivated and friendly people. It was definitely a very good experience both from the professional and the personal side. The general atmosphere in the bank is very good, people is very focused on their work and it is a great place to be in terms of learning from the professional experience and everyone is really approachable and keen to help. Moreover, everyone is very sociable.
Everyone values the interns and the organization is really keen on helping develop the new employees.
The internship is designed so that you will always have more senior people to whom you could go to ask for advise or help on issues that may occur during the internship (someone at each level of experience Analyst, Associate, Vice President and Managing Director). This people were periodically catching up to see how the internship is developing and were always available to give advice. Apart from this more formal mentoring program, everyone in the bank is approachable and is willing to support and guide the interns during the summer.
In my opinion this is the trickiest part of the internship, but I imagine it has more to do with the nature of the job. Sometimes you are really busy and you feel like you will need more hours to complete your work and some other days you may have more down time. I think it poses a challenge on learning how to manage your time. However, a good point is that there is not a face time culture as there might be in other banks.
It was surprising to me the amount of responsibility and the involvement that you can have on some projects. Personally I had the chance to be involved in two big live transactions and work directly with senior bankers on deliverables that were to be sent to clients. I think everyone in the bank makes an effort to involve interns in the projects happening.
Having studied finance, the opportunity to intern in an investment bank, like BAML, is an exceptional chance to see the real life application of what I have studied in the textbooks and the classrooms. Now I have gained a better understanding of how the real processes work. Moreover, I have also improved on my time management and I think this is something that will always be useful, both in my academic and professional life.
The Company
The general atmosphere was really good. It is a very professional place and you can feel that everyone is working hard, it is a feeling that catches up and it motivates you to work hard, learn and excel at what you are doing. In this sense I think it is a really good environment to learn and grow as a professional. And apart from that, everyone in the office is very sociable and you can frequently go for coffees or beers with people from the office.
The internship is really well organised and set up. There are plenty of events to socialize with other employees, meet more senior professionals, and learn about banking and finance.
You can feel that the whole organisation cares about the internship program, also as it is now the main source of new joiners to the firm. There are plenty of opportunities to learn, and get exposure to senior staff. Moreover, the company runs a series of conferences from senior professionals every week, which represents an exceptional opportunity to learn about other divisions in the bank and about finance in general.

Very good. Nice environment, and great learning opportunity
The Culture
There are plenty of events to meet and socialize with other interns, and in general all the interns are very sociable and outgoing.
London is really expensive, but the compensation is good so this does not poses a big issue.
Great, there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the bank. Also the location of the offices is incredible, next to St Pauls cathedral and in the centre of the City.
Hours in banking are long so it is difficult to get involved in activities outside work, however the bank makes an effort so that people can have a better balance. Also everyone is more or less flexible with the hours (there is not a face time culture) as long as you deliver results.
