    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was lucky to be assigned to a great team. Great working environment, great team work and great involvement (I also had the opportunity to travel for working reasons). 9/10 instead of 10/10 just because the salary is a little low compared to banks and other companies in the financial sector.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Highly valued, couldn't ask for more. I felt like being part of a big family.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • everyone was always ready and happy to help me (from directors to analysts)

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The amount of work was quite cyclical. I had to work until 1 am some days and on Saturdays, while others I could leave at 5. I would have welcomed more banking style working hours (but this is probably a bias of mine).

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Great, I met clients, took part in credit committees...

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The learning curve was initially very steep but then everything got alright

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly, I loved the fact that my team was very heterogeneous and diverse.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think we spent too much time being presented all M&G divisions (which was not needed from my perspective, i.e. if I apply for an investment scheme why should I lose time learning what HR does?!?). On the other side I would have preferred to get more specific training.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I say 8 because my team was great but I had the perception it was kind of an outlier.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    International Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very good in my team. 8/10 instead of 10/10 because the salary is relatively low compared to other financial companies and because the employment prospects could be more dynamic from my point of view.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • To be honest I had much more fun with my team that with the interns

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is super expensive, we all know

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • kind of good

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I played multiple sports with my team, I was great. I was invited to have dinner at the managers' place and it was great!

    5/5
