The Role
I fully enjoyed my internship, both my work and my team.
I felt very valued by my colleagues from the beginning - they made an effort to give me tasks as interesting as possible, they were always letting me know that they appreciate what I was doing, engaging me in their conversations activity and being very welcoming in general.
My manager was great: he gave me a a lot of guidance and help, being extremely patient to answer all of my (many) questions thoroughly. I also got lots of support from the other people in my team or other teams.
I was very busy, as I had always been working on at least 3-4 projects in the same time. However, it was not as stressful as it sounds because I rarely had urgent deadlines, so I found my days busy but very enjoyable.
I made a contribution to their activity while I was there, and many of the tools I developed will be useful for the team after I am gone too.
I don't think they will assist me so much in my degree, but I learnt a lot from my very diverse work, and it will deffinitely be useful going forward.
The Company
People were very friendly, welcoming and willing to always offer help or to talk to me about anything I wanted.
The overall internship was very organised: we had a whole week training in the begining and quite a few learning/social events throughout. We were announced about each of these in time and we knew exactly what was expected of us.
The firm invested a lot in us, organizing a one week financial training, brunch and learn session and presentation which we had to do in collaboration with people from other locations. There were also other social events, all very useful for meeting people across the firm and learning from them too.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I definitely see myself working here.
The Culture
It wasn't easy to always go out with all the interns because everyone was finishing, but we did go out a few times. We also socialized with other analysts (old and new). In general I am very happy with the friends I made across the firm.
London is of course expensive, but it was manageble after all - you learn how to save from little things and spend the money when it's worth it.
Of course there are lots of great places to go to in central London.
There are a few social / sports events organized, a pub quiz, a charity event...and nights out with various people from other teams.
