The Role
Good Summer here, I enjoyed the work. Was it challenging enough? Probably not compared to friends at other firms. Maybe I should be careful what I wish for but I felt I could have been used here to better effect.
Ish. Eventually once I'd proved myself after 6 out of 8 weeks they began to give me harder, more important work. If we'd been set a tough task early on then maybe I could have been a more valuable member of the team earlier on. In terms of trust, I always felt welcome and part of the team, just not enough to always get tough work.
Very good manager, I was really close with him. He was friendly but also gave me consistent feedback which I really valued and took onboard.
For the majority of the time, I wouldn't say that busy. Obviously there are days when you work hard and long but by the most part everything was done by 5-5:15
Naturally, these things take time. I felt I could have been given more. By the last week I was being given proper integrated tasks that added value but up until then I was just there as an add-on
Not a great deal. It's helped me smash Excel which will be useful in future but my degree is more literary based. Beyond degree, yeh hopefully this sets me in good stall. I would have liked more exposure to other work areas though.
The Company
I can't fault M&G working office. Really very positive, very open and a great place to work. The people are great and it is a relaxed office. Perhaps we could have seen a bit more energy and vibe but that's more banking I suppose.
Yes I like the internship set up well. I think the HR are very kind and friendly and organise good events for meeting peoples.
I think my manager was fantastic. Could there have been more skills-based learning? Absolutely. We had a few overall insight sessions but no specific training or skill learning which was a disappointment. I'm all for independent learning but I haven't learnt much here that I could not have done back in my home country.

It seem like once you get a job here you can stay forever, there are plenty of life workers. A lot of graduate seem to leave after a few years though which seem odd. The hours are appealing for sure here, the mix of life, not so much.
The Culture
There is a good mix of students here, all are very nice. We integrated well and socialised a bit. I would not call it a "scene" as such though.
Very expensive but so is everywhere in the City.
It's London.
Some other interns did some sports but my team seemed very office based and then they would go to home.
