The Role
Being Off-cycle during 6 months enabled me to work on diverse projects and to fully understand what a full time position in the team would look like. Besides, colleagues from other team were also friendly with me, which was also an opportunity to discover what many desks were doing.
Working in Finance means that you need to learn how to master the art of CC, but I have always been involved in the internal meetings and my ideas for developing new tools have always been reviewed with details
I was given clear guidance and schedule and my team introduced me personally to the people from which I was probably needing support (legal, middle-office etc...) which really made the contact easier after. But what I also appreciated is that I was given a great amount of responsibility in respect to the projects I was working on
During work hours the rhythm was quite intense but the work hours did not extend so late
Full
I learned a lot about the derivatives industry : pricing diverse products, generating trade idea that fits with client's requests, automatizing spreadsheet and I definitively think that these skills will be very helpful in my future
The Company
Not as many event as summer interns
There is very few internal written documentation or I never found it
Subsidised Canteen
Finance industry is not booming but opportunities may happen
The Culture
With summer interns yes, otherwise there are almost no other interns
