    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Was made to feel part of the team and produced meaningful work which has been used by the group, including branches and head office. I sort of 'fell in' to the work, however, and found it by talking to another member of the team, not part of any plan.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Yes - I was welcomed with open arms and made to feel really valued and part of a team. I was treated like any other member of staff and the only times I knew I was an intern was when they refused to let me get a round of coffee in!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Completed balanced scorecard with weekly 1 to 1s to discuss progress and create next steps to stretch myself.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Days would vary, but very rarely did I have to work longer than my 9-5 set hours (although I usually ate lunch at my desk).

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Was given set tasks and pieces of work which were my responsibility to produce to high standard, often then needing presenting to a group. Obvious need for permanent colleague assistance in getting approvals etcetera prevented 10 rating.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Development in the office helped me grow as an employee and learn a lot about myself, my strengths and weaknesses. The formal development curriculum of webinars, however, added little value, and was more of a talking shop.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My team was excellent, mixing work fun and banter with getting on with real work. I never felt anxious about asking a question or for help and really did feel part of a team. This included socialising outside of working hours and having a leaving do organised.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Getting here etc was fine, however there were some problems. IT did not work for two days, there were issues with a lack of clarity around what was needed from a monitoring and referral point of view from me and my line manager.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Yes - I was given the means to work from home to allow myself to have flexible working.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Excellent workplace with great development opportunities and perks. Just need to consider whether the company is the right place for me.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good - there was enough people so that everyone could find the happy medium of however much they wished to socialise.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London prices

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It being London it was easy to find the nightlife you wanted, although there being that much choice could lead to some indecision and arguments about where to go.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes

    4/5
