The Role
The work I completed was good. I felt like I was being challenged, stretched but also supported within the company.
Our relationship was very professional and not 'like a family' but I also felt extremely valued.
I was supported a lot by my manager and supervisors especially in regards to initial learning. I felt like I could speak to them very regularly if I had issues concerns and updates.
I was fairly busy but felt able to speak to my line manager when I was feeling a little overwhelmed. I was never bored.
Increasing responsibility throughout placement in line with my development and understanding of the work. Never too much or too little.
The work skills will help me greatly In my desired future career path and a little in terms of personal time management and organisation
The Company
A friendly working but serious atmosphere. People were able to talk and socialise freely but were often working too much to do so.
Although the work I completed was seamlessly organised the approach to the internship was less so. I was told I would have a London location ( easily commutable for me) when I received my offer which subsequently led to me turning down offers from other companies. However I was told 8 weeks before the placement that I would be located 3.5 hours away from my home. Although I am more than willing to travel for work it was a little disheartening after spending a year abroad and being excited to have a summer at home with family/friends.
I felt a lot of effort was put in by my line manager and colleagues in order to ensure I was learning about all aspect of my role as well as other roles that interested me in the company.
I think the prospects seem likely and bright. However it is unclear what the progression will be after a graduate scheme.
The Culture
Unfortunately as the majority of us where places a long distance from home a fair few weekends were spent travelling back to see loved-ones, which meant although the weekly social scheme was ok, the weekends could be very boring.
Much cheaper than what I am used to.
Very good nightlife, not many opportunities to experience it.
Not many. Graduates at the office where very helpful in providing intern/ graduate weekly activities
