The Role
I enjoyed my placement alot. The working environment, role, activities and colleagues all made my experience fantastic. I would recommend this internship in particular but would advise people that roles and experiences differ greatly throughout the bank. However, in this instance I had a very positive experience and was pleased with my role.
My colleagues were the driving factor to my satisfaction with my role. They were supportive and really listened to what I had to say. When I put a point across it was accounted for and change was made as a result of my point. They would constantly praise me on any work which I completed to a high standard and made me feel a valued member that was on a par with them.
My manager supported me alot throughout my internship and she never failed to slot in a weekly one to one with me. We would review my progress each week and discuss all elements of my internship. She would constantly compliment my work and guided me if I needed assistance with anything. She was a model line manager.
I was given the perfect amount of work to do. I was busy but I was not overloaded. My manager timed my completion of work with the introduction of more work in manageable bouts. My manager assessed my ability and gave me more work as she deemed me capable. Work load did arrive in peaks and troughs but my workload was fairly consistent throughout on the whole.
I was given alot of responsibility and managed an entire campaign by myself with some support. I was trusted by my manager and my team and was provided with alot of responsibility because I was trusted alot. I greatly appreciated the opportunities I was provided with and felt great that such alot of trust and faith was put into me.
The training I received at the start of my internship was lengthy and mostly appropriate to banking in general. It was very useful information and a great foundation to build upon. However, I don't know how much of this is relevant to my life beyond banking. On the other hand, the skills I developed I will carry forward in life and utilise them alot.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office was lively and positive. It was an informal environment and everyone was friendly. nobody seemed overly stressed and this created a beneficial environment to work in. Everyone interacted with one another and everyone seemed to know eachother. It was a large open-plan office yet everyone seemed to know one another.
My placement was very well organised. Campaign dates were altered in order to fit in with my internship length. I was pleased with the way in which I was allocated tasks. I was given introductions to each team and was made to complete all my training at the start of my internship so in this way it was very well structured so after the first week I was completely prepped.
This company has invested in me alot. I am a Lloyds scholar and this was my second internship with Lloyds Banking Group. the company believes in me and wants to see me succeed and are extremely supportive of my personal development both within and outside of the business. I have the opportunity to go onto the grad scheme after my placement.

The Grad scheme starting salary and job security are very appealing. The opportunity for career progression following this is apparent. People seem to like working at this organisation and there are alot of fluid roles in which people move around in. There seems to be good job security as people, although they may have changed roles alot, have been with the bank a long time.
The Culture
There was a good social scene as alot of us interns and scholars were living in the same place. On top of this our charity challenge ensured we had plenty of opportunities to socialise outside of work. there were also social reps in each area of the UK where grads and interns and scholars met and had fun with one another frequently.
The cost of things were pretty standard as is across the UK. Things were neither too expensive or very cheap. Not a considerable difference and nothing to be noted.
The nightlife was fab. A lot of people went out and had fun specifically in Leeds.
There were quite a few opportunities to get involved in activities especially with our charity challenge
