    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I am at a smaller office of Citi with a great local team. Everyone is very social, helpful and easily approachable. Easy to get the attention of seniors when needed.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • no micromanaging, the work is important and you start with much responsibility already

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Sometime not everything was clear as is, but normally asking wasn't a problem and people always took the time to step aside and explain things.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • very dynamic workplace, so can vary from not having much to do to staying late nights / working weekends. usually always something to do, never got bored, always had something on my desk. hours are pretty good, considering the industry standard.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • people would normally still check your work at the beginning but I started of to get much responsibility very fast. People generally trust you in your work and do not review every single thing.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • there was some boring work, like putting together slides or some things but generally I learned a lot by working on deals and models directly. As you get responsibility / exposure fast, you are forced to learn fast. Definitely will help me for my future career.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • great atmosphere in the office, everyone is very open and social. generally I would have preferred to work a bit more with people (meetings, clients etc.) but I guess you will need to sit your time behind excel, annual reports, research papers and powerpoint in any finance job. Definitely getting more exposure the higher you are.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • very well and centrally organised

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • first week in London with all new interns for training and networking. on the job everyone took the time to explain things when necessarry

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • yes great people that I worked with

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • based in Zurich. Very international and open people. However some Swiss might rather stick around Swiss people. Very high costs of living (food, apartment, nightlife, phone, everything)

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Obviously not a big city but people know how to party here.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I guess there are, but I need to admit that I did not have the time to get involved in things apart from sports (gym, mountainbiking) and social events with the team from work. (and it would also have been a bit more complicated as I was only here for a limited time)

    3/5
