The Role
Really enjoyed it 90% of the time. The odd day was tough when my team were really busy so didn't really speak to me
I was made to feel like I'd always been there
Super busy
Loads- I felt like I was completely in control of what I was doing and responsible for delivering my project
I study physics- there aren't too many transferable skills
The Company
Intense but happy. I was in research. Everyone has a sense of purpose and is highly driven. At the same time people are generally really friendly if you bask for some of there time to grab of coffee or go over some ideas they generally do. I was made to feel really welcome and included. The buddying system worked really well for this helping me meet more people on the floor.
Really well organised. I felt like I had purpose and always knew what was going on and what my timescales were. HR were really approachable and clear. Intern events and training was pretty good and I felt like they wanted me to be there and that people were keen to get to know us and hear our voices.
I think the personal training and development was relatively good. Sometimes you had to ask for someone to spend time discussing this with you but one prompted people were generally pretty good. Training was really useful for someone like me without a finance background

Company Parties/Events
I've really enjoyed my internship I would really like to work for BAML. The opportunities appear to be really good and I like the environment. I feel much more confident about working in the financial sector now. Before I was worried about the hours and the pressure but actually spending time here I could really see myself fitting in.
The Culture
Difficult. We do socialise outside of work but the 12 hour days take there toll and weekends seem to be very much about catching up on sleep and seeing family. Having said that the people I have spent time with I really like and hopefully we'll keep in touch in the future. The firm also put on quite a few networking events which made it possible to keep in touch with people in different business lines
It's St Paul's so pretty expensive. You get used to it and you're being paid.
Enough. Opportunities were there if you sought them out . I did the JP Morgan corporate challenge. It was brilliant great way to network and a nice way to get some exercise and meet people
