The Role
the whole organisation was very accommodating and their unique rotation scheme allowed you to meet all teams on the trading floor very early in on the internship- meaning that I had a point of contact on all desks throughout the internship
I felt valued- though the nature of the job meant that we were not able to really get involved as we didn't know enough
guidance was there should you need it and everyone was very open to questions, you need to use your own initiative to seek out help
we were given a large number of projects and stock pitches which kept us occupied throughout the day
very little- though this was not due to a lack given- it was just the nature of the trading floor.
this has been a huge learning experience and I feel that I have gained a lot- especially in my understanding of derivatives- all the employees were very keen to teach me though I hade very little prior knowledge.
The Company
it was very open environment where all the desks talked with one another and we were encouraged to get to know as many different teams as possible.
the over all work placement was well structured and filled to a good level, keeping us busy but not overstretched. there were also a number of interesting speakers and events spread throughout the internship which gave us a slightly broader view of the industry than if we had just stayed on our desk.
I felt that they were very keen to invest in us, giving us excel training as well as the employees taking a lot of time to speak to interns individually to help them understand a large variety of topics.
Travel loan
They seem very appealing- with opportunities to move around the bank as well.
The Culture
yes- though I didn't participate too much purely as I had a very long commute- though during the day we did have a very strong bond as a group.
