The Role
I really enjoyed working at ViiV, the working environment is very dynamic and all employees are enthusiastic about what they do.
In ViiV, all placement students truly are full members of the teams. It being a relatively small company makes every single individual important to the whole.
Placement students receive full feedback twice a year about their competencies. In addition to that, if you want to work on a specific skill, you can discuss this with your manager who can advise as to how to go about this. There are opportunities to start ones own project should you wish to do so.
As in many jobs, some periods are more busy than others. Most of the time, I had a correct amount of things to do everyday but in busy periods I had to work overtime. This meant that in less busy periods I could for example leave early on a Friday afternoon.
I was given full responsibility of the implementation of marketing materials in my 22 markets. In addition, I organised two large internal conferences fully by myself.
Studying Business, I got a great insight in marketing as I was able to work on many different marketing materials, from e-mail campaigns, through websites and journal ads. This will help me in a future career in marketing as I now can say I have worked on a large amount of different advertisement means.
The Company
Very good atmosphere with hot desking, meaning you change seats everyday and meet new people.
Well set up with a great induction day and long handover from the previous placement student.
Able to take part in some skills sessions.
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
It being a company with 800 employees, they do not have their own grad scheme (but are part of the GSK grad scheme) so future employment is ufortunately not very likely for now.
The Culture
Yes! All 6 placement students got along very well amongst each other as well as with the rest of the company.
Rent in the area is cheaper than in Central London but still very expensive. Going out was also expensive.
No nightlife in the area but it was close enough to Central London.
