The Role
I enjoyed my internship very much, found what I was doing interesting and tailored to what I wanted to get out of it.
Very much, I was constantly given positive feedback and saw my work being of value to others.
I would have found it a little easier if there was a colleague who would always be there and have time to explain little things like acronyms to me in the first week or two, but otherwise, my managers were always happy to help/give guidance/explain how to do a task.
I was quite busy, but that is because I was very keen to help as much as I could and take on as much work as colleagues would be give me.
An example would be where I was in place to make the decision on whether a report is in line with the internal policy. I would still ask my manager to check over it but he trusted me not to miss any details out.
I knew what skills I wanted to develop, and worked on them as well as many others.
The Company
Some desks were more lively than others, I wouldn't say that there was too much fun in the office during the day, however closer to the evening, people tend to crack more jokes and make up for it by going to bars every Friday.
I wouldn't say that the first week was full of events for me, but after that I took the matter into my own hands and organised many opportunities for myself, with the help of my managers.
I was given an opportunity to do everything I wanted, go on branch visits, visit other head offices, telephony sites, attend networking events etc. I also knew that my manager would always find time to speak to me if there was anything I wanted to discuss, went through my development plan etc.
Flexi Time
National Travel
I am planning on continuing working for the company after I graduate.
The Culture
We would do something once or twice a week with other placement students and go out to a bar/pub with work colleagues weekly too.
It was reasonably priced, in my opinion.
There were lots of bars, clubs, festivals etc.
There are always opportunities, as long as you're looking for them..
