    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was in a very competitive environment surrounded with professionals in the area. Most of my internship went just as I imagined and described it in the application even prior joining, so these 10 weeks were quite an experience and enjoyment. Having the chance to work on assignments for which I had the skills and felt passionate for was truly amazing.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My manager respected me and assigned my objectives just right to be very competitive. My other intern colleagues were very friendly and amazing to work with. Proving my skills strong I ended up doing an important role in every project I was in. Finishing my part of every task on time and efficiently got me a positive reputation between the colleagues.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was very supportive and we had regular checkup following my progress and tasks that needed to be completed. Additionally I was assigned a tech mentor who was always available to help me If I struggled with any technical issues. All of the interns also had the chance to socialize with graduates or more senior people in the company in order to gain extra confidence and support.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • More or less important there was always job that needed to be done. My objectives were serious and detailed some of them lasting for the whole 10 weeks. I was pretty busy every day focusing on the tasks that needed to be finished. As most of my tasks were very interesting, I was working really hard on finishing them.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Although my expectations were lower in this sense as it is only an internship I was surprised by the amount of responsibility and information that was disclosed to us. Working in important projects just several weeks after joining is amazing. Fortunately, If I had the chance to come back in the company I will be really motivated and driven from the responsibility and seriousness the coming projects will require.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed all of the skills from uni, and learned how are they used in an enterprise environment. All the training and the experience I got here I think will help me in the last year of uni I am starting in a month, Even If I had a little free time I took extra online training to upgrade my skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In general very positive and relaxed. All the employees on the floor were either working together or somehow dependent in the department where they were working, so easy communication was often to be seen. In addition, we had a lot of social areas to rest and have a chat with some of the colleagues.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised from prior to joining the company to the very end. There were people assigned that took care of the organisations and all the events/socials the interns should attend. It was very easy to just follow up on the calendar invitation that we had and all the plans that were presented to us prior joining.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I would give all my praises here, as J.P. Morgan is very keen on investing in their employees. Most of the interns including me, got an option to discover technologies, attend different events in different cities for which the company covered everything. I managed to take an enormous amount of online courses which else what would not be free.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Following from the responsibility that was required in the projects I worked now, I believe that in future I would feel even more enthusiastic as the projects will require even more commitment and hard work. In addition to all the benefits, work travels and opportunities to specialize the career in future I would rate it as excellent.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Even from the first days of joining, all of the interns started socializing between each other. Both in person and on social media. Personally, I keep in contact with a lot of the interns and know all of them. As most of us live at a same location, we often go out together or socialize after work hours.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Moving to Bournemouth from a more expensive city previously I would categorize the costs lower and very much affordable. It was not expensive to afford the day to day needs and also to have dinner out in a nice restaurant or socialize on a night out in the local bars and clubs.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Although Bournemouth seems to be more lively for the summer I would rate the nightlife as below average compared to most of other towns/cities in the UK. There were some nice restaurants and bars to go out, for people who fancy to visit the same place often. In 10 weeks time I had the opportunity to experience most of the local places and things to do in Bournemouth.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Depends on the interests of the individuals. For me personally, I could not find many interesting things to do out of work especially on my free time during the weekends. I would appreciate, more galleries, theaters, restaurants and cultural events to fill in my free time. Good thing is that Bournemouth is well connected with other towns/cities and one can always travel for an interesting thing to do,
