    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • JPMC is a gigantic company, and so going into this is a crazy step forward, however they do so much to incorporate you into the company and help you settle in to not only the team, but also the whole program.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was asked to work on critical systems, and so the work I was doing meant that I would be making a direct impact to my colleagues and they understood that, and from this there was a real feel of working together, as part of the same team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They were always able to show me in what direction I had to go, and yet push you to research the answers to find them yourself.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was kept busy for the majority of the internship, due not only to the projects given to me, but also the learning the possibilities to do different things within the company, and the learning options are endless and all open to the employee's, so if you find yourself with free time, one can easily fill it up learning new skills.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • There was a large amount of responsibility placed upon me, I was given a project to do, an end goal if you will, and from that it was to me to ensure that I got it done. This push on the agile setup allowed for me to develop as a working and self reliant coder.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • From this internship I learned two new coding languages and within that several new systems and tools. However it also increased my interest on related work to do for my final project.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • This was a work environment, however within that the office's were relaxed, with team members interacting often, creating a much more enjoyable work space. The offices have also recently been upgraded and so the style is all modern and clean, which lifts it up highly.

  • Very well organised, initially got in contact shortly after submitted my application. During the actual internship there internship was well structured. Events were organised often and managers stayed in touch with us.

  • I would be very keep to work at JPMC again due to not only the current enjoyment I have from it, but the benefits that it provides as well as the flexibility and its global presence allowing one to work from nearly every continent in the world. This grand scale appeals to me, and the possibility to rise high based on merit.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a strong social connection between many of the interns here, first started by the initial intern social organised by JPMC, and then by the interns themselves. Working in bournemouth, there are plenty of nice places to go during the day after work, and even out at night.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The costs of living are very low, with the offer of university accommodation, or as I did finding a place to live on sites such as spareroom.com. This combined with the cost of expenses on top of that is very manageable with the large salary respective to many other internship's available makes for the ability to save up lots.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was decent. with several clubs/bars to frequent there was more than one option on where to go on a night out, as well as places which would stay open till early mornings. There is something for everyone at the town, you just have to look for it.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was several out of work activities held by JPMC, including after work sporting events very frequently, as well as corporate responsibility days where we as a company, give back to the places we work. Not only this but many of the team and other workers were very inviting of nights out and team meals.
