The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. There was a lot of support throughout from your manager, team, other interns and HR. I have had an enjoyable 10 weeks and it will be one to remember.
I feel as though I was valued by my colleagues. The work I completed was meaningful and the team really liked the work I do. They were very supportive if you felt like you were not understanding.
I was given support when I required it. I was not afraid to ask for the support and I think that's one thing they liked about me. They were very approachable and understanding when I needed support. My manager also suggested weekly meetings to ensure that I stay on track and always progressing.
I was busy majority of the days during the week. If I ever had downtime then I would use this time to learn new skills on Excel and I would ensure that I was update with the news that might affect my team.
I was given a lot of responsibility. I had to reach out to heads of the department and ask for feedback which I would then collate. With this information I had to set up a meeting and run it. On other projects, my manager would give me the opportunity to take the lead. In every dial-in meeting, she gave me the opportunity to kick off the meeting.
My skills have most certainly improved. I felt as though before the internship my Excel skills were rather good. After joining the company, I realised I had little knowledge compared to the team members and they helped me to improve them. My relationship management skills and communitcation skills have improved as I am able to communicate in an effective way that I can apporach people I have already met. I have definately improved on a lot of skills that I will take with me.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was good. Everyone is friendly and you can have a concersation with everyone. At first, everyone seemed busy so you didn't want to bother them but once you make that first effort, you start to speak to them on a regular basis and get to know them.
It was very organised. When we were given the offer there set different emails and various times for tasks for us to complete which made the process easier. During the internship we were provided weekly communication that updated us with the information that we needed. The HR staff were very well organised in making the 10 weeks very enjoyable.
They invested in us a lot. The first few days of the internship were training days where we were given talks on how to communicate efficiently, presentation skills and Excel skills. I found the presentaiton skills most effective. Throughout the internship, there was not additional training but we could access the online training centre and undertake courses ourselves.

They are very appealing. The graduate programme seems like a great programme to be a part of. If I am successful in my internship then I will definitely take the opportunity. They operate on a three year rotation programme which is very beneficial as you get to be exposed to different areas within the organisation.
The Culture
The social scene was really good. Interns would sit together during lunch and just enjoy our lunch break. After work we would meet up and go to eat or go to a few local bars. I think this was a good opportunity to get to know your "class" and really build a relationship with them.
The location was London, so it was very expensive. I lived two stops away on the tube and the rent prices were still high. A relocation allowance was provided which made it easier to pay for the accommodation, so spending that little extra didn't hurt, especially if you are not from London like myself. Socialising was the same, drinks are more expensive but as long as you don't spend loads on the night, you are ok.
It as good. Everyone from different companies would go to the local bars near work and enjoy a drink after work, especially if the weather is nice, which is rare in London. I found it had a really good atmosphere and it was good to relax and get to know people rather than talk about work.
There were a few opportunities. I was not aware of many but some of the interns joined the football team. I do not play football so I didn't join. There is also softball games between different departments which was on.As long as you enjoy sports then you will know about the different opportunities.
