The Role
I enjoyed nearly every aspect of my internship. The social aspect of the internship for me was equally as important as the work, so I am glad JP catered to that by putting on events throughout the internship.
I felt very valued by my colleagues, I was always given praise when I did something correctly or took on projects etc. When I did a good job it would always be mentioned to others, thus increasing my 'brand' within the company,
My manager is the main reason I enjoyed my internship, he gave me valuable insights into not only the division I worked in but the various other roles on offer at JP. He also supported any projects I was doing and was open to talk about anything, he was professional when he needed to be but was also a friend.
Extremely, I would come in at around 7am and work until 6:30/7pm. However, I liked being busy, if I had 'free time', I would try and take on more tasks, help others or take this opportunity to learn about other areas of JP. So although I was busy, this was a good thing.
The responsibility I was given grew throughout the internship, at first I was given mainly routine tasks to get me to understand the systems and to demonstrate I was able to handle more responsibility. if you work hard, you will be given a great deal of responsibility, You aren't just working on irrelevant tasks, they are all essential and can have large repercussions if done wrong.
I had finished my undergraduate studies, so the skills I learnt on the internship won't be helpful there. However, some of my MSc courses revolve around the skills I have built up during the internship, e.g. my excel skills have improved tenfold - this will be helpful in financial modelling.
The Company
Busy, I sat on the trading floor so the atmosphere was always amazing. Especially since I started the day before Brexit happened. People always had something to do and were constantly in a rush to get things done, not because they had left in last minute just because the nature of their job was fast paced.
The placement was very well organised, I would say the first few days (out of office) training could do with improving/tailoring. I spent 1.5 days learning how to present, which wasn't really relevant to the role I undertook. That time would have been better spent learning excel skills.
They invested a lot. They provided numerous networking events, social events, on the job training and gave us access to online resources to further our knowledge in other area.

Within the organisation, very. I would love to work in a different line of business but definitely want to stay at JP Morgan.
The Culture
As mentioned yes, there were numerous after work drinks, coffees, breakfasts etc to encourage us to get to know other interns and employees.
Cost of living for me was okay, This is because both my undergrad and masters are in London, therefore I would have been paying rent for the summer regardless of whether I stayed & worked at JP or not.
London, need I say more. Best night life in UK, probably top 5 in the world.
Sports etc were offered however I didn't partake. I only took part in the Good Works (charity) programme and the Corporate Run.
