The Role
I really enjoyed my time with Bank of America. I learned a lot and was pleasantly surprised by the working culture, which was equally as efficient, but less intense than I had imagined.
I felt valued by all of my colleagues, they were all genuinely interested in my work and were always willing to help.
I had a great deal of support both from my manager and my team. I did not have much relevant experience before the internship, and they were all very open to my questions, and happy to spend time explaining material to me.
The internship programme was very eventful: apart from my daily work I had to attend lots of learning sessions and networking events. I also had lots of opportunities to shadow other teams and explore different departments in the company.
Two other interns and I had a separate project, we were totally responsible for it.
Since I am doing a science degree, most of the software engineering skills I have developed are irrelevant to my degree. Nevertheless, all of the skills I have acquired are directly relevant to the career I have chosen for myself.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was well-balanced. My colleagues all seemed to work efficiently, while also always having time for me and one another.
Overall the internship was very well organised. I had a variety of interesting activities to keep me occupied, from a personal project, to networking events and community outreach volunteering.
I feel that the firm made a considerable investment in me by providing such a wide range of working activities and educational opportunities. As well as this I was given regular reviews and provided with feedback on my performance.

Very appealing. I greatly enjoyed my internship and, having gained some hands-on experience of working in Tech at BAML, I would be very keen to do so as a career.
The Culture
Yes, we were given plenty of chance to socialise at work through regular networking sessions. We also spent time together outside of work, organising nights out etc.
The cost of both accommodation and socialising in central London was very high.
There were plenty of bars and restaurants in Canary Wharf where my office was based. However, the other interns and I preferred to travel to central London for nights out, as the variety there was much wider.
Yes, see above.
