    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have enjoyed a lot the experience of working in such an incredible bank! I can confirm that is the best bank in the world, and the place where I want to keep working. However, I had not like the line of business in which I was involved, Private banking. Even though, I would like to keep working in the bank but in another line of business.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Because I was helping my team with the KYC Process of the bank, among other task I feel extremely valued because this is something the analyst spends a lot of time doing so I was saving some of their time. Moreover, will preparing presentations for new prospects I help the bankers and the investors, making the liaison between them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We had to present proyects, or presentations nearly every week. As a result, every week you have the chance to receive a feedback and to hear from the comments of your team and the managers. Moreover the manager and how you are performing. Moreover all the analysts of my team are extremely helpful

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The day to day was extremely intense. We begin very early in the morning with the market wrap and we stay until late at night in order to do all the things that should be done on the day. However, comparing to other Line of business such as investment banking, the hours you work in private banking are much less. The days went so quickly as you are always doing something.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Because my internship took place in Geneva, and because of the Swiss banking secrecy I was not given much responsibility. However, I had the chance to hear a lot of conversation with clients, getting to know there appetite for investments and how the proposal made by the investors was presented to the client.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • On the first hand, I would like to point out the continuous learning courses that we have had. Going from fixed income to equities, and including Philanthropy courses, ethics, communication skills... The trainings received were incredible and I could say that there is where I learnt the most. On the other hand, because I was working with KYC process, I didn’t-'t had the chance to work very intensely in the pure markets.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Because I was working in a Latin America department, the atmosphere in the office was very good. The employees have a very good relation among each other and we always use to organize things together for the weekend. Moreover, when you arrive to the office, everyone is laughing and smiling.... I imagine this is beauce is latam blood.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was extremely good organize. The first week was in London for an intensive course, where we mainly had the chance to do networking and learn the basis of the business. Moreover, we had many tranings all along the 10 weeks where we could keep learning about financial products. I would also like to point out the night events.... which were not bad at all!!

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I believe the firm has made a lot of investment in a summer intern employee. For just 10 weeks work, they have paid for 1 week in London and other 10 weeks of very good salary. Moreover, all the trainings that we received also represent a huge investment for the company. One of the things that I could feel since the beginning is that this company was investing a lot of money in my education.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would really like to keep working in this company. Even though I have not liked the line of business I have been working in, Private banking, I really like JP Morgan values and I want to work within this bank. During these weeks I have the chance to see how good the mobility in JP Morgan was and all the opportunities that are offered to their employees.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good social scene among all the students. I believe that we all have a very similar background, and if not everyone was extremely respectful. As mentioned before, JP Morgan can be characterized by the diversity of their employees, and the same opportunities that are given to all of them. Best students!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I have had the bad/good luck to do this internship in Geneva. The life here is extremely expensive, I would say one of the more expensive in Europe, however the salary is also extremely high. As a result I believe that one thing compensate with the other. Going for a drink was maybe.... 20 euros per glass of wine... and accomodation... hard to find something under 1.200 eur

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The Nightlife was very good. All the weekend there is something to do or somewhere to go. Geneva is extremely good located and you are able to go anywhere for the weekend (Mountain, lack, beach, cities....) the nightlife was expensive, but the skylines and the places are very cozy and chick.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • We do not have much time after work to go to other activities because we finished late. However, is true that during the weekends among the interns we always try to organize some activities, such a small trips, barbecues... The atmosphere among the other interns was extremely good and we organize our own activities.
