The Role
It was really enjoyable, everything was structured well and there was a great balance between talks, project work and social events
It felt as though everyone was equal and people would ask my opinion even though I did not have the same experience
I believe this was the standout part of the internship, we have regular catch up sessions with mentors, my manager was keen for me to learn and would support any decision I made to shadow outside my division
There was a lot of streams of work we were expected to do, these were: Intern project, Team project and Intern Events/Talks. This generally meant that work was always there to be done, we hade the freedom of choice to decide what to do and when to do it which made it great.
As I mentioned we were tasked with many things and told to go off an do it, we were responsible for planning our time and planning the vision of the Intern project.
Agile software development and Test driven development are two skills that will directly affect my degree as I hope to employ these methodologies in my work
The Company
The atmosphere was laid back, everyone seemed to know the work they had to achieve and how long it would take. It was also quite a intellectual environment as people would often spend hours discussing technology and different strategies regarding software development in general.
The internship was very well structured it felt as though they had thought about all things, however one note of criticism would be that on some occasions we were told about talks with one days notice which was sometimes an inconvenience if other work had been planned
Heavily, there were a lot of talks and training sessions from people within and outside the company.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I would like to work for this company as they are very welled structured and organised, it is possible to get a lot done as they have many resources.
The Culture
The other interns would meet on a weekly basis outside of work which was great
I live in the area so costs were not as evident to me
