The Role
The company as a whole is great. It has a brilliant atmosphere, a strong culture and is a fun place to work. My actual job, on the other hand, was not for me but I took a lot of skills away from it.
I was valued highly by my immediate team and my division for the work that I produced.
I felt that my manager could have been so much better, given the calibre of their skills. My manager barely made any time for me, or the rest of my colleagues and in my opinion, was very much in it for themselves.
I've put a 6 down because it really did fluctuate. There were times when I was extremely busy and times where I could have left the office at 1pm.
It took a while for me to have been given any real responsibility, as I had to learn the company and it's systems but eventually I was given some really good projects. I felt that other interns were given more responsibility but it all depends on your job role and how good your manager is.
I learnt a few great skills that have already started helping me along the way. I learnt how to present well, I vastly improved on my Excel skills and I gained a great sense of business etiquette.
The Company
It varied, depending on who was in the office. I was quite fortunate that a few other interns worked closely with me, so there was always a good laugh to be had. However, some people just got on with their own thing and made it quite dull.
I think that HR at Microsoft needs a drastic overhaul. They were all over the place and borderline amateurs. As for the rest, it was organised well enough. Again, it all depends on your job role and manager.
The company has a great culture of investing in your own development and as a result, I took away some hard and soft skills as already mentioned. If you want to learn fundamental skills to kick off your career, then this is a great company to be at.

Microsoft is a great company but it's definitely not for me. However, don't let that put you off. If you love the technology industry and want a stable career, then Microsoft is the place for you.
The Culture
The social scene was great, which was a bonus, considering the fact that Reading is awful.
Could have been a hell of a lot cheaper, considering how much Reading sucks.
No clubs in Reading, just bars. Lame...
Yeah, plenty. You can do many stretch objectives.
